Having not more than ten guests, you slip through the queues and the security checks and get into a world where centuries of art and spirituality unfold themselves in serene and peaceful moments. This is not a visit, but a journey that we will do together due to curiosity, thought, and wonder.

Every part of the galleries asks you to slow down as you pass through the galleries. The halls are lined with classical sculptures whose shapes of marble are so natural that they can move. The Galeria de mapas extends itself in brilliant color leading you down Italy as it was once conceived. The light and perspective are united in the frescoes of the Quartos Raphael that convey the sense of belief, strength, and artistic genius, and each detail has a meaning. It is all different in the small group setting. It is time to stop and see, to inquire, to pay attention as your guide points out the hidden meaning of a gesture, or the meaning behind a scene. The additional explanations in English, with clear headsets, are individual, like having a friend next to you unravel centuries of history and art.

Next there is the Capela Sistina. When you enter it becomes quiet naturally. When you look up at the ceiling made by Michelangelo, you are engulfed by a world of both monumental as well as human scenes. The Creation of Adam and the Last Judgment both demand and welcome contemplation, and the serenity does not distract but rather encourages thought.

This is where the guide is a narrator, how Michelangelo struggled, doubted and put his heart into every character. Minor details come out to play, as the tension between two hands to the face of an angel, and it becomes something you see, but something you know. Nothing feels rushed. It is an experience that takes place at a slow pace and is driven by curiosity and not time. You pass when you are prepared and have with you a developing sense of belongingness instead of fatigue. As you come back into the light of Roma, you are haunted by the visit. What remains is not about pictures. It is more of an insight based on narrations, background, and the closeness of searching Vaticano in a small group.

This is more than a tour. It is like a dialogue between art, history and personal discovery, an experience that does not view the Vaticano at a distance, but allows you to see the inside of the Vaticano.

Fast-track the Vatican Museums and Sistine Chapel in a small group with a live guide and headset.
